Kiln Diary #25
SPRING COLLECTION GOING LIVE
SATURDAY 27th MAY at 7pm, UK time
Preview online Friday 26th May 4pm
I make my pots for people who love and understand beautiful things, whether in landscape, books, food, or music. All the pieces I show in my collections or exhibitions have reached a particular point of balance, poised between the energy of the form and the complexity of the surface colour and texture. These vessel forms can sometimes contain indefinable qualities to communicate and engage with us. The objects that we choose to live with hold extraordinary powers which can comfort, inspire and challenge us in unexpected ways.
The work for my online Spring Collection progressed slowly in the studio from the beginning of February and all the pieces were fired in the new soda kiln. I have been exploring its potential and firing at a slightly different temperature to add a brighter, iridescent colour response that reflects the light and celebrates the warmer days and glimpses of summer.
The Spring Collection ranged from small cups and tea bowls to larger individual exhibition vessels. All the work was available to preview on my website from 4pm on Friday 26th May. The online gallery went live on Saturday 27th at 7pm UK time. You can find these exhibition images on my Collections page. I do hope you enjoy the exhibition.
My studio at Trinity House in Penzance is open to visitors if you find yourself in Cornwall. There is always a selection of exhibition pieces and domestic ware to view and purchase in the gallery. Please do contact me before your planned arrival to avoid disappointment so I can arrange to be there to welcome you as I am often working at the kiln site.
